I’ll never be able to change the 17 years growing up in a secretly dysfunctional family that remained so until that generation passed on. I’ll never be able to change the five years I spent in an abusive marriage and the years that followed as I struggled to protect my children in the face of relentless deception and trauma. But the pattern of abuse stopped here, and my grandchildren are surrounded by love.
